I’ve been able to grab my hands on the Olympus M750 Camera, a 7.1 Megapixel camera with 5x Optical Zoom. There sure are a lot of parts to this camera.

All the parts taken out of the camera below. There are 4 very small motors in this camera.

Disassembling the main circuit.

1. Unknown Main Chip
I’ve search for this chip but wasn’t able to find any information on it. All I can say that is it generates a bit more heat than all the other components.

2. Samsung 256Mbit (2M x 32Bit x 4 Banks) Mobile SDRAM
The main memory chip in this camera. 32 MB of memory, quite a bit but then again most cameras have internal storage for a few pictures too. PDF

3. Analog Devices 14-Bit CCD Signal Processor
This seems to be the main chip to process the image taken by the camera. Link

7. Unknown Sharp Chip
I’m not being successful with these searches, similar LRS parts from Sharp seem to say this is a flash storage chip.

8. Unknown chip

And that’s the most significant chips covered, we’re done but now we only know that there a quite a few chips but don’t know their functions.  Now if only I could find how to interface with the CCD sensor and LCD screen 😛
